Canadian isn't all that counts...

INXS got it wrong, and that's all I have to say about that.

Disagree - JD has the edginess, sex appeal, passion, and voice for the band. He can pull off the old stuff with a striking homage to Hutchence, while I think he has talent for writing new stuff with the band.

I think the best guy won for INXS.

Everything but the voice, maybe. Words like "bland" and "workaday" come to mind. And someone who can do a bad Michael Hutchence at a karaoke party is definitely not going to do it for me. I'd rather have seen somebody with a real vocal edge. But then, they probably won't miss my money when the new album comes out.

Ugh. Hey anonymous, is that you, JD? (laugh)

But really, this thing smelled bad from the get-go. A contest to replace Michael Hutchence? C'mon. I could only bear to watch a few episodes.

Are they committed to one album with JD, then it's a "we'll see" thing, or what? I never did catch what the deal was.

Not sure what the deal is - I do know that they are recording an album now, due out in November. Then they are launching a world tour in January.

And come on, noone can replace Hutchence - but they have to be able to do the old stuff justice or noone will come to the shows. I think JD was the best choice - Mig was too "broadway" to front a rock band, and I see the other guy (what is his name? the blonde) fronting a more "nu-punk" band than INXS.

BTW, I was the original "anonymous"

I guess I was looking at it from more of a "what can they do with the candidate" point of view. I don't think they're going to have a whole lot of luck plugging JD into the mix -- it'll be a rough go trying to break him out of his Hutchence impressions when they do the old stuff (and every good tour band does the old stuff when they promote the new). I hate old bands that become fat, grey-haired tributes to themselves* (the Doors anyone?).

*If I want to look at fat, grey-haired parodies of things that were once youthful and vibrant, I'll stop shaving my (mostly bald anyway) pate for a few days and look in the mirror. Yech.

So who would you rather have won?

Braver choices would have been Ty or Suzie... I have been listening to their later stuff on the show... excellent arrangements, interpretations and performances.

JD yes he has the sex appeal and he will probly have a more modern image that appeals to younger girls and NO ONE CAN REPLACE MICHAEL HUTCHENCE but u HAVE to give him credit i dont know many people that could replace an icon like him and then go and tour round Australia his home country. he knows he is gona lose fans but he is brave enough to take a chance and he obviously has talent if he beat thousands ... honestly how many people could replace a lead of the 2nd biggest band in the world in the 80's and what makes it worse is that the lead didn't leave the band as such but he died and he took his own life which makes it even worse. although that being said i would like him not to sing the old INXS songs as they are Hutch's and Hutch's ONLY.
